Well... -- nbrown
...there is a LITTLE more to say than that. Pong is essentially complete and it's time to move on to greener pastures. We're working on a new as-yet-unnamed title. We're sticking with retro themes and working on a vector-based game with (hopefully) lots of OpenGL eyecandy. Stay tuned for more..

Like a bad penny... -- Sloane
Its two years later and here we are again. Sadly, not much has changed. After a couple of years being sidetracked with life, we're back and pushing to finish up Pong. Not much else to say but that.

Wanted: More free time, apply within -- Sloane
Free time has been lacking of late, if the lack of news topics hasn't already tipped you off. It's been a busy year, and unfortunately that means our work on the game front has suffered somewhat. Neil and myself have become the proud new owners of our own homes finally, taking possession of each within weeks of each other. House renovations have been somewhat ongoing for both of us as well, which leaves little time for other endeavors. However, Neil has begun working on the Pong code again after an extended hiatus, and I have been charged with doing up a splash screen render for the final release. Rumor has it Neil is also hatching ideas for the next game project, but as of right now its more unsubstantiated rumors than anything. We'll be sure to post links to Pong as soon as it is completed.

Merry merry ho ho... -- Sloane
I'd just like to take a quick opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Believe it or not, we're all still alive and well. Things on the project front have slowed to a crawl as of late because both Neil and myself have purchased new homes this last month. Between moving and the holidays, there hasn't been much time to spend working on the game front. We'll be starting up on Pong again in the New Year, and we'll post a link to the final version once it's complete. Once again, have a Happy Holidays from Ixion Studios.

Yet more apathy -- nbrown
Well, we suffered a few schedule-related setbacks, but we're back with our new project, "UBERPONG". Yeah, ok, the name is a little odd, but BattlePong and MegaPong were taken. It isn't yet complete, but we submitted to the first ever Philadelpha IGDA chapter Retro games competition and tied for third place. We're trying to polish it off and get it up on the site, so keep an eye on the site.

Torque engine madness -- nbrown
Well, we've settled on the Torque ( http://www.garagegames.com ) engine for our upcoming game, tentatively titled 'Ground Assault'. It's been a rough couple weeks trying to get into the engine code when I have time, but I think it's coming together now. The codebase is nicely organized and very modular, which makes additions or modifications relatively painless. The documentation for the code is still somewhat lacking, but the folks over at GarageGames are working hard to improving that. For now we've been mostly experimenting with the engine, adding some new camera effects, new vehicle types, and playing with some of the model properties. Hopefully we'll have some reasonable screenshots soon.

New year, new website! -- nbrown
Wow! Will you just look at the stagnation! We didn't have a very good year last year with everyone's work schedules and the like. This year should be better though - we've started a new project and it should be a lot of fun. Also, the new website is coming along well. Keep an eye on the "About" section as Ixion staff will be adding personal pages.

Game Developers Conference 2002 -- Sloane
It would seem that after some discussion the Ixion Studios team will not be attending this years GDC. Although the team is saddened by this turn of events, there are talks of attending the event next year. On the upside, the money that was to be spent on this trip will now be used to increase cash flow in the technology sector. Just doing our part for the economy. ;)

New Years and New News -- Sloane
Happy New Year, everyone! It's been a long time since our last news item, and the New Year is as good a time for an update as any. This month marks the 1 year birthday of both "Ixion Studios" and the Ixion Studios website. To celebrate this momentous occasion I thought I'd give a brief update to the news section. Although progress has been slow on the game development front the last few months, we are going to be stepping up our work schedules (hopefully) in an effort to get a working version up and running sooner rather than later. Since the majority of the work to date is code related, there isn't a lot to show unless you like pouring over lines of code for fun. (Even if you do, we're not putting up screenshots of code). We'll be sure to post a link to screenshots of our work when we have something to show that meets our exacting and demanding standards. ;) It also appears that the majority of the team (not including yours truly, unfortunately) will be attending the Game Developers Conference in San Jose this year. If you plan to be in the area during that time, drop your favorite Ixion developer a line and harass him for some of your time or a free meal or something. Feel free to drop us a line in our forums, and once again Happy New Year from Ixion Studios.

linkage -- Sloane
I have enabled the rest of the tabs to link to the various other parts of our site. The site look change has been pushed back indefinately, but hopefully not too indefinately. Please have a look around, and feel free to head on over to our message boards.

No more Ogre-speak -- nbrown
Fixed the problem that was causing the news items to be printed out in toddler-readable form. My bad. The backup module also appears to work properly now. Just have to wait for the next release of the board software and we'll upgrade.

just a little update -- Sloane
It would seem that during a Message Board backup there was a bit of a hick-up. You may or may not notice message threads aren't quite where they were before, and most of them may appear to have new messages when they in fact they do not. This is an unfortunate side-effect of the fix, we're sorry for any inconvenience. You may have noticed that the other tab links to other parts of our site are still not active. I am (slowly) working on getting the rest of the site up and running, along with slightly updating the look of things a touch. In the meantime, please visit our message boards.

More Website Madness ( orig by Sloane) -- nbrown
Neil has spent some time today converting our news section over to a php scripting setup. Not only does this make it easier for us to update and manage news updates, it also allows discussion of those news items in our message board forums. We received some helpful webpage criticism recently from "Kaotic". Although we haven't attempted all his suggestions, I have been banging my head the last couple of days trying to get the mouse-over images for the navigation tabs to preload (I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be easier than it seems to be going). Although I didn't follow the same method as Kao pointed out, I think I accomplished this miraculous feat none-the-less. Let me know if you think it's not working. I'm posting the old news below here, going to go see about adding it into the database properly. April 17, 2001 To Frame or Not to Frame... - sloane Only a slight change for now. I eliminated the frames, as I have been told they can cause some grief. I have also added another pick icon above, the "Who We Are" tab. Again, it's merely for show at the moment. The Forums tab works fine though. Feel free to pick it and join our discussion board.
